Barkcloth, a fascinating material made from the bark of trees, has a variety of applicatons in modern interior design.
Naturalness and sustainability:
Barkcloth is made exclusively by hand from the bark of trees. It contains no additives, colors or binders.
Production requires minimal water consumption and is carbon neutral or even carbon positive when the tree´s natural carbon sequestration is taken into account. A tree bark fleece corresponds exactly to the harvest of a tree and is therefore a unique natural product.
Aesthetics and diversity:
Barkcloth comes in a variety of hues, from orange to terracotta to deep reddish brown. The texture varies from thin to thick (0.3 – 1.8mm), with the majority being between 0.7 and 1.1 mm. Occassional seams and patches made of sisal or bast thread are natural and make each individual cloth unique.
Applications:
Wall- / elevator- / barcladding:
Barkcloth is great for this. Its translucent properties allow for gentle light transmission.
Furniture and furnishings:
As an insert in laminated glass elements, it gives tables, cupboards and shelves a natural touch.
Dividers and doors:
Barkcloth can be integrated as a design element in room dividers or glass doors and door infills.
Special designs:
The three-dimensional formability enables interesting design options, even for curved elements. Partial occupancy of the unique pieces between glass can also be implemented in our factory.

“At the beginning of the design development of the Lucia lamp there was an intensive examination of the material paper and its history. Inspired by the diverse, often unusual application areas of paper in its tradition, I have dealt in particular with the topic of interior design.
The pleasant atmosphere that paper can create in combination with light aroused my interest. The glass substrate allows for clear lines. Due to the transparency of the paper mesh and the glass, the lamp conveys lightness and fits perfectly into the living space.”
In her fragility, Lucia acts as a connection between the visible and the invisible, acts as an unobtrusive mediator between light and dark and thus contributes to the creation of a pleasant room atmosphere.”
glass-inspiration GmbH DESIGN + ENGINEERING has announced a new innovative development – salt tiles laminated on or between glass. The tiles with thicknesses of 5-10 mm and sizes of 50 x 50 mm, 100 x 50 mm and 100 x 100 mm are laminated on or between glass using a special laminating process. The crystalline structure in different color variations makes each finished element unique.
Especially with backlighting, the natural design of the structure and colors bring a cozy atmosphere to your wellness oasis. Salt tiles bind odors and moisture, improve air quality and improve the overall indoor climate. With open salt tiles laminated to glass on one side, the ionization brings a certain amount of salt into the air, which actively supports breathing and increases well-being.
For certain areas, glass-inspiration also offers these salt tiles as a completely closed, laminated system. This protects the salt tiles from moisture from outside and enables decorative applications indoors and outdoors, such as facade elements, partition walls, shower walls, table tops, column cladding and much more.
Different production processes enable glass-inspiration to apply salt tiles over the entire surface or partially. Designs according to the specifications of the architect or designer are a matter of course for us.

glass-inspiration GmbH DESIGN & ENGINEERING, a leading manufacturer of laminated laminated glass with custom inserts, has supplied glass elements for a unique wall covering for a bar/restaurant in Beverly Hills (USA). The wall paneling is backlit wood veneer, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for visitors. Project management and installation were carried out by GPI Design (Ohio).
The ash veneer used for this project with a thickness of 0.4 mm was laminated between two panes of glass with the utmost care in the glass-inspiration factory in Austria. The lamination process ensures the durability of the veneer making it ideal for high traffic areas such as bars/restaurants.
In order to create a harmonious picture, the veneer sheets were mirrored. This technique not only creates a stunning effect, but seamlessly blends the wall covering into the surrounding area. The backlighting gives it additional depth and dimension, which at the same time ensures a beautiful and captivating sight.
The use of wood veneers in interior design has become increasingly popular in recent years. Not only does it add warmth and texture to a space, it also offers a sustainable alternative to solid wood.
